This walk is a four mile circular walk through the city of London starting at Liverpool Street station. It is from the book London Overground Walks by Jeff Lock. For convenience I started and ended at London Bridge.

Across London Bridge to the north side and after a short walk along to Cannon Street Railway bridge I turned up Walbrook which runs on top of the hidden river.

Then towards Bank station passing the Mithraem, the remains of an ancient temple dedicated to Mithras. Opposite the tube station is St Stephen Walbrook designed by Christopher Wren.

Into Mansion House and the Royal Exchange. Then along Threadneedle Street and the Bank of England. Further along a short diversion into St Helen's Place with the church and the first view of the Gherkin behind.

Another view of the Gherkin and then into the churchyard of St Botolph-without-Bishopsgate and the former church school.

In the churchyard is a Turkish Bathhouse but buried behind building site hoardings. Then up to Liverpool Street station, the official start of this walk.

A fancy artwork outside the station. Then another view of St Botholt-Without.

Then into Devonshire Square and a sculpture of a knight of King Edgar. Further on into St Mary Axe with the large office buildings dominating.

Passing the Gherkin with its huge base structure. Another mix of old and new.

Into Undershaft and the church of St Helens. At this point the route came to a stop as the whole area is being redeveloped and is boarded off. There was no way through to the open space at St Helen's Square and it probably no longer existed. So a diversion was needed to eventually get back on route at Leadenhall Street. Into Leadenhall Market.

Finally the church of St Dunstan's, badly damaged in the Blitz with only the tower remaining but a pleasant churchyard behind. Out to the river and along to London Bridge where I crossed and lunched at the Anchor before heading home.
